Junior Clinics:
Clinics help in waking up your competitive side. They are useful in analyzing the different game styles by pinpointing the strengths and weaknesses of other players.
Even when doing stroke specific drills or footwork exercises, clinics are useful in pushing the player to do his best while watching and competing with others at the same level. We have the following 3 Juniors programs available:
Advanced Junior Clinic: This clinic is meant for tournament players of 2 age groups 9-14 and 14-18. Players of the same level will be combined in this clinic to promote a healthy competitive atmosphere. This session will start with drills aiming at stroke perfection, footwork and positioning followed by matches or match-like situations. The true importance of a coach's supervision during match play will be apparent in this clinic as instant analysis of mistakes is key for improvement. Fitness will also be a part of this clinic.
Intermediate Clinics: This type of clinic is meant for juniors who have learnt the basics but are yet to hone their rallying and consistency skills. Many new strokes will be added to their arsenal in this clinic like approach shots, serve returns and net game to get them to the next level. The clinic is very essential for kids to start playing tournaments. The importance of consistency, length, direction, spin and power in the right order will be stressed upon in this clinic.
Beginners Clinic: Basics are the main key to a solid foundation. Whatever age the player is, it is important to start the right way. Its equally important for kids of any age to enjoy the sport, so fun and basics will be the theme. Hand-eye co-ordination and basic running drills will be part of this clinic.
We also offer Tournament Trips. We, the coaches, travel with our kids to tournaments and chart their matches and thus their progress. For more about this, please contact us.

Fitness Programs:
Tennis is a unique sport where an altogether different approach to the fitness is required. Tennis needs short and explosive bursts of speed, agility and direction changes over possibly 3 sets or 2 hrs of intense ball hitting which requires a lot of stamina. So there are a lot of areas to cover in just the fitness aspect of tennis.
Before the early 80s, there was not much emphasis placed on fitness in tennis. But thanks to players like Martina Navratilova, Ivan Lendl and many more that fitness really has come into the limelight. The demands of tennis now has the average pro player working out off-court at least 90 minutes per day. But the key lies in being able to tailor-make the drills and exercises specifically for tennis. That's where most academies or athletic trainers fall short of....
In Nirus Tennis Academy, we have consulted and adopted unique techniques from a world class athlete and a once fastest man of India, Rajeev Balakrishnan. He has given us great insight into training the right way in tennis and has already had successes with many top tennis players in Australia where he is currently based. Sanjeev, our fitness trainer is now working with many juniors in this area and does private lessons as well as group fitness lessons. He also puts together programs to suit according to each players needs taking their weaknesses and strengths into consideration.
