Nirus Tennis Academy was founded in 2004 by Coach Niru and Coach K.V. Ganesh. After retiring from pro women's tennis, Coach Niru wanted to give back to the community and help kids and adults with their tennis game.
Niru was the first Indian woman ever to win a round at a Grand Slam (Australian Open 1998) and became the first mother to play for India at the 2010 Commonwealth and Asian Games. She was a Bronze Medallist at Asian Games 1998 partnering Mahesh Bhupathi and was India's no.1 player from 1991-2001. She holds record for most singes victories for India in Fed Cup, women's equivalent to Davis Cup. She was a Triple gold medalist at SAG Games Chennai 1995 and held a WTA ranking of 132
Coach Niru was a Commentator for Star Sports for Wimbleon,US Open and Chennai Open and has launched her autobiography "The Moonballer" which is available on Amazon. She is also a USPTR Top Certified Coach. Read more about her book www.themoonballer.com
Coach Ganesh known as Coach KV, came with 25 years of experience coaching all levels from beginners to college to pro players. He is a certified USPTR professional P1 and a High Performance Coach with the USTA . He was also the coach for Coach Niru and the Indian team which particpated in Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open. He has tons of experience as a traveling coach for top juniors and has been instrumental in guiding many juniors to play Division 1 College Tennis. Coach KV coaches the ITF and tournament playing kids in the Academy.
They are assisted By Coach Chris and Coach Alex who have been with the Academy for quite a few years.
